Orange County cops seemed very nice, very professional.

Lee County had a lot of cops that terrorized people. They would drive right up on your bumper and scare the heck out of you. I drove a lot of junk cars in Lee County and it seemed like they went for those, although I saw them pull a lot of nice cars over, too. They like to pull you over and be very vague about why. Liked to run the driver's license of everyone in the car. They'd ask if I had any guns or bombs in my car. What???? Bear in mind that I'm a woman in my 40s that looks very boring.

Funny thing is that Lee County is not very good at stopping the drug problem. It wasn't until Fort Myers cops went into Dunbar that they finally made a dent in the crime over there.

The news finally said that they had some sort of contest where they cops with the most citations were getting free fishing trips. Figures.

I live in Tennessee now and have since relaxed. You see a cop and wave and they actually wave back to you. Nice. They are there to protect and serve. Good bunch of people and they actually catch bad guys.

Thanks for the compliment. I treat everyone fair and also treat everyone like I would like to be treated. I like to sleep well at night.

Then, they could take it to court and the judge will probably dismiss the citation anyway. Under the 316.187 and 316.189 statues, it's not a criminal offense. If they write you under the reckless driving statue, it's a misdemeanor. The person has to exhibit willful and wanton disregard for persons. There had to be something more to your friend's story than just doing 20 over.
I will ask on Monday.... Thank you for the reference to the statues....

Out of 21 voters 16 are zero on tickets thats great. The individual that was stopped had a bit of other issues that generated the jail time....

Avoid speeding on 75 in Manatee County. Big time trap but at least the trooper did not put me in jail.

The last ticket I got was on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, outside of Washington, where the speed limit is 55. I was going 65, just so my butt wouldn't get run over. I know I was wrong, but this is a four lane highway and the speed limit is set too low. The flow of traffic is usually 70+ on that highway.
