I'd appreciate everyone's input but realtors' input in particular. Is there a time that is better than others to be looking for a house in Florida? Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the tip. But I failed to make myself clear, I guess. I was asking about actual seasons--summer, winter.... For example are there more housing units available, say, in the winter as oposed to the summer? Here in the northeast houses come on the market in the spring and taper off after Labor Day.

For some areas the end of winter used to be a good time since that is when some snowbirds are heading back north. Some may decide to stay back up north and thus they put the home on the market.

In the current market there are so many foreclosures and the inventory is up so there really is not a time that there will be an influx of more homes on the market. In many areas they are already on the market.

That being said, there are some areas that inventory is dropping.

There is so much inventory in Florida right now it doesn't make any difference. I can only speak for my area but I found that people put there homes on the market when its "in season" so there is more action however as someone trying to sell there home I listed when schools would get out being that I was looking to move back up north.

There's no good or bad season right now, besides it's always 'summer' in Florida. I'd think that there'd be a little more traffic during snowbird season. Just my opinion.

Thank you all for your insights. We will be shopping for a Florida home in about three years. I expect, by then, that the real estate market will have returned to some level of normalcy. Can't wait!
