they are really not bad at all depending where you live. I am in boca raton on the east side. The further west you go the worse the bugs get. The best place to be is East of I-95 imo. We do not have the bugs you get out west and they get ALOT more rain than we do also. (Drives me crazy because I have to run my sprinklers) If you were to drive from the east to the west you would also notice the developments out west also have very low lighting. That is to help keep the bugs away. The everglades are out west so that is why the bug problem is worse. Now keep in mind this is mostly june to nov-dec. (Summer) The rest of the year it is Quite A Paradise to live in. East or west. Gorgeous weather and very comfortable. Hence the Giant snowbird migration

The big cities don't have mosquitos problems but some parts of the country areas do. In the everglades the mosquitos could suck your blood dry if not prepared.
I lived in North Fort Myers and they flew over with DC-3 planes spraying for them. Helped sometimes and other times not much help. The rainy season is when you have the most. But you won't see much of them in the winter. And you can't beat the winters in South Florida.
