I live in the panhandle also and can give you some advice. Are you relocating with work or are you retiring here?

Thanks for replying. I'm relocating because of work. I've looked on-line at Navarre, Santa Rosa Beach, Fort Walton, Destin and Freeport areas. According to this site lot's of negative feedback on several areas thoughout Fl, but always wanted to settle down in Fl. I have relatives in S Florida (Lehigh and Ft Myers) and they are discouraged at the crime and trash that has taken hold down there. What a shame. Florida housing cost have sky rocketed in the last 3-5 years, but still somewhat reasonable compared to other states. I guess the time to buy property in Fl was a couple years ago. With school age children I'm also concerned about schools. Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks
