I read this story today and felt absolutely sick.

Woman left newborn in portable toilet, police say - CNN.com

The only positive thing I can think of is that at least it didn't happen in FL, as if we need more of a negative view.

In many States (such as Illinois) , if you dont want your infant for whatever reason, you can drop it off at a local Fire Station, Police Station, or Hospital with no questions asked and you are free to go . Also... probably any Crisis Pregnancy Center . Considering the volume of people wanting to adopt , there just isnt any valid reason for dumping ones own baby in an unsafe place and uncaring manner.

Florida has a safe haven law as well. An unwanted newborn can be left at a fire station, hospital, or police station without question.

Every State in the Union should be as such ; especially when our spineless Government wont step in to do something about our irresponsible Media encouraging Kids and Adults by glorifying sexual hedonism as a popular pastime.

I'm so glad to read that the baby survived. A 44 year old woman should know better. And as a woman, I find it very difficult to believe these women when they say they didn't know they were pregnant. BS. Unless you weigh 500 lbs, you most certainly do know something is up.

There really is no penalty too severe for this woman.
