Destin is known for its outstanding fishing. After all, we are the worlds luckiest fishing village. You'll come for the beach, but you'll be back for the fishing!

Fishing from these fixed locations with live bait, frozen bait, and artificial baits will produce Pompano, Whiting, Channel Bass, Sheepshead, Blue Runner, Bluefish, Sail Cat, Spanish Mackerel, King Mackerel, Cobia, Bonito, Jack Crevalle.

Destin has been coined the “World’s Luckiest Fishing Village” for good reason. Known internationally for its quick access to deep water, Destin actually owns this title.

Within a half hour of leaving Destin shores, fishermen are greeted by water as deep as 60 feet. In fact, 100-foot depths are within 10 miles of shore. There is no other location in the Gulf of Mexico that allows such quick access to water of this depth.

Name you favorite location in the state and provide a bit of info for others to review.

Not off Fort Lauderdale. When we had the motel in the 50's and 60's my dad had a 40 foot sport fisherman and would take out our guests. You would go out at like 8 am and they would want to come back in by noon. They caught so many fish they were tired of fishing. You through back what you didn't want. Kingfish, Mackerel, Dolphin, Sailfish, Marlin, just about every fish off the coast was plentiful. For fun you could go shark fishing and catch them at will. Now, you can go out there and troll and day and you are lucky to catch anything. I have no idea what happened but it sure is different.

I know what happened. A few million more fisherman. I like to go to the keys and anchor in about 70 feet of water. I toss out a couple of chum bags and before you know it, the yellowtail are all around. I catch my limit of 10 and then I go out drifting in about 200 feet for the kings or wahoo. That's the life.
