Is it really that bad over there? I still see many dump trucks in the Miami area hauling fill and debris from construction/demolition. There's a lot of road construction and land development still going on at as fast a pace as ever.

This is sad, The economy in southwest Florida is bad and I don't see it getting better anytime soon.

Mintotruck, you might need to expand out of SW Florida. Tons of construction here in Tallahassee, and all across SE Florida, as the housing boom wears off, office and commercial buildings are being planned!

“South Florida home building will recover eventually, but ‘there is a big overhang, so it’s going to take a while,’

Its not the best time to own a dump truck in swfl. We've been paying the mortgage with credit cards. We are down to the last month doing that is there any one who might be able to lend us a hand in finding somewhere to work??rbermudez83@GMAIL.COM My dad is willing to travel so anywhere is fine. till it gets better here in SWFL we will be biting our nails hoping for some relief from the lack of a STEADY income.

I have to think it is a business I would not want to be in. Just yesterday we were going to the post office and had to sit and wait as a guy was trying to back an 18 wheeler onto a lot. He was jack knifed in the middle of the road and looked like Meadow Soprano trying to parallel park that car. This guy could not even drive the truck, I bet he makes like $9.00 an hour. How can you compete with that. I told my wife how when I worked construction as a crane operator I would unload big trucks that those guys would pull on to the jobs full of material and back them out with like a foot on each side like it was nothing. This guy yesterday could not get the truck in with a whole road to use. Like I said if this is what they are hiring and I can only imagine what they pay them, how can you compete.
