Hi all,

Well we moved to Port St. Lucie and I wanted to post for those thinking about moving, especially those from NY/NJ to FL.

It was a HUGE step and a HUGE transition. We've only been here 24 days, so this is just our experience so far.

Let me start with the people - a world of difference, everyone here is nice! The weather has been beautiful (not even humid YET, although I know that's coming). Everything is clean and green and it's just beautiful.

On the down side - the school system is a little wacky, but nothing we can't adjust to, and of course we aren't "comfortable" here yet, but that will come in time.

We are renting in Tradition at the moment, because we were clueless and didn't want to buy before we were sure where we wanted to be. Well, I can tell you that we now know this is where we want to be.

The first week we lived here I had my doubts, but we've adjusted some and now I love it. I am a little homesick (I know, sounds crazy) and would love to meet a few people from NY/NJ, but other than that we don't regret a thing.

We had to move here due to a job promotion. While we are originally from the NE, we were Army for a long time & moving every 2-3 yrs was common.

It is what you make of it. Keep positive. Life is not meant to be perfect. It is meant to be what you want it to be.

Congrats on your move down. It will take a little while for it to feel like home, but I think it is worth it down here. Once you make some friends you won't miss NY/NJ as much.

It takes a while to adjust and then after you will feel like you are at home. Once you return back to NY for a visit you will know it is not your home any more. Get children involved in sports that will make a wourld of difference.

I don't think so. I didn't the last time I lived in Florida and I most certainly won't now when I go.

"Who says you can't go home?" Listen to Bon Jovi. It's very, very true. If you think otherwise, you are just kidding yourself.

Default Hooray for you!

I ditto most of your thougths and experiences. I have been in Naples for a week and a half...from NJ. I, too, am homesick...but I think I am homesick for my "stuff" and my "pets and son". It certainly helps to have a job to go to, as I did, because you immediately meet people.

I feel right at home though....and altho it is often said to never say never...I certainly have no intentions of ever going back!
