I am just curious about something....
I am reading trough this forum, and came across posts from people heartbroken and in dispair, because they are losing their HOI.
Okay, how would it be if, say, they sold their home, and get prospective buyers.
Would those new people be able to get a new policy in FL with an insurance?
And, if they are, could that be the same one dropping the current home owners?
I am just curious and how things work, and what the reasons are behind things.
The only thing I do know with 100% certainty is the fact, that the HOI is STILL a mess, and them dropping clients should NEVER EVER happen!!!!
Thank's everybody!

State Farm is no longer writing new policies in south Florida, so folks generally use Citizens, which has to write a policy.

Once the market crash is over and all has been quiet on the hurricane front those backstabbing insurance companies will be soliciting for new business.
I hope people remember how they were treated and and tell them

NO, WILL WILL NOT BE INSURING WITH YOU, WE ARE PERMANENTLY DROPPING YOU!!!!

Not going to happen. They want to reduce their exposure.

If someone is buying a home, they would write into the contract that the deal is dependent upon the buyer securing homeowner's insurance.

The house itself and the location will play a role in insurability, that hasn't changed.

What has changed is that it can take longer to find an insurer, there may be extra hoops (inspections, etc.) to jump through, and the cost is likely to be higher than it might have been a couple of years ago.

But, yes, in most cases, obtaining insurance would be possible.

Citizens, as brought up previously, is a last resort - no one should go to Citizens until they have exhausted all other options.
