I love Hummus. It has been around for a long time. It is great on Pita bread. Plain or with roasted garlic it is better than any bean dip.

Toss out the tahini.

Low salt garbanzo beans
Organic first press olive oil
Sundried tomatos
pressed garlic
sea salt

mix and match amounts until you get the flavor and consistency you desire. My teens use a stick hand blender to make quarts of the stuff.
Most creative use is replacing mayo on sandwiches. Smoked turkey and hummus on toasted rye. Yum.

I have to go with Jasper on this hummus. First, no one can really say anything nice about a chickpea. So its all about the garlic. Salsa and guacamole on the other hand have good base ingredients. And, if you eat hummus you can't get within 3 feet of anyone for at least a day.

Chickpeas are awesome. I usually sub them in for at least half the kidney beans when I make chili.

I should really get a stick blender...I've put my foot down on getting a countertop blender or food processor, because my counter space is pretty precious real estate. But it means there are certain things I can't make as easily. A stick blender would suffice in most situations.

Hummous is great with pita bread. Tahini is ground sesame seed paste and adds nice flavor. Just stay upwind...

I've had some I didn't like and some that was okay. A relative brought some she bought at Costco to a Christmas gathering. It was decent. I prefer salsa or guacamole. I do really like the pita bread usually served with it. The pita is really good with guacamole.

I love hummus- My favorites are the Roasted Garlic, Jalapeno and the spicy 3 pepper ones-
I eat them with pita or wheat thins - I also love them on cold cut roll-ups - I take sliced roast beef and turkey, put a nice amt of hummus on it and roll it up. Love it and it is very good for you!
I also add it in some macaroni dishes (like elbows, bow- ties, etc)

I used to hate the stuff, then my aunt made some from scratch with roasted garlic served with Pita Chips. So much better then the Athens brand from the store..
I also never liked the pita chips, I thought they tasted like cardboard. They were ok served with the Hummus though..
