Noticing more pull-tab can lids at my local Kroger affiliate.

However, the non-pull top can's are easier for my wife to open as she has servere arthritis and can't manager the pull top ones...I bet others may have the same problem.

I would guess the pull top's might cost more to make by .025 cents?
why the change over anyway?

I like the pull tops but hate it when I pull so many (feeding cats). My fingernail sometimes pulls away from skin enough it's sore for days. I think they've forgotten how to make decent can openers. Some are absolutely horrible. The new hand type side cutters are good while they last. Our Krogers are long gone as is Albertson's. Our local Stores beat them out.

I like the pull-tabs, too, and also have rheumatoid arthritis. So far, not a lot of problem with my hands, but when the tabs are hard to pull, I either use my Pampered Chef opener (opens pull tabs, bottles, and soda-type bottles) or my husband.

Butts Grocery (HEB) has a lock on San Antonio. Unfortunately, I was in the new one on 1604 Loop and, I think, Kitty Hawk? and that was the worst layout I have ever seen in a grocery store. I said to my sister in law, "whoever designed this store should be shot" and a stranger agreed with me! :snicker:

Yeah, they've recently screwed up our store's layout! It's a changing country ..what can I say!

I have a device for lifting the tabs but it won't get under most of them.

It does seem that the new tabs are tighter than the old ones. I've noticed this in the last year or so myself. Still, my Pampered Chef tool does the trick.

Yeah defeats the purpose of pop top cans.. They just need to make the tabs so the ring is raised slightly. That way you can get your fingernail under it.
