We have a few couples coming for dinner tonight and I decided to try my version of a french Buche de Noel (Yule Log). Mine is a chocolate sponge cake filled with a raspberry reduction and whipped cream, frosted with buttercream and decorated with meringue mushrooms. We will see how well in goes over this evening.

If by "a few couples" you mean me, then it looks GREAT!
Otherwise, I'm too jealous to be kind.
I want a bite. Or two. Or ten.

LOL thanks everyone. (D - you know you are welcome anytime you want to stop down here!) Dessert turned out really well! I think the recipe is a keeper. Heres a pic of the "cut" finished results.

Absolutely gorgeous (including the plates!). Your friends are very likely to have someone who has the skill, time, and energy to create such a masterpiece!

I haven't done that in years, OK decades. Nice job, beautiful presentation! I'm pretty sure that it was scrumptious.

Some day, I hope.

It looks delish. But you know I wouldn't be visiting for the sugary treats. I'd be coming for the pups! Errr, I mean for you and your DH. And the pups.
