I just saw a commercial about that.
I always thought pork was very bad for health because of the fat.

So how can it be "the other white meat"?
Are they just refering to color?

They want to promote it as a healthier/leaner meat like chicken instead of fatty like red meat/beef/lamb.

If you buy a lean cut, like the loin it can be fairly low in calories, fat and high in protein. If you buy a cut like pork shoulder it will be higher in fat and calories.

In 1987 the U.S. National Pork Board began an advertising campaign to position pork as "the other white meat" — due to a public perception of chicken and turkey (white meat) as healthier than red meat. The campaign was highly successful and resulted in 87% of consumers identifying pork with the slogan. The board retired the slogan on March 4, 2011.
No, pork is not healthier than beef or lamb. Actually when you compare nutrition pork is the worst from all...
That's just make me think, how an effective propaganda campaign can persuade us to believe in something or to do something that we would not normally believe or do.

Pork chops, ham and pork tenderloin are pretty lean. The biggest challenge with pork is that the popular preparations are things like:
bacon -- high in sodium, full of nitrates
ribs -- fattiest cut of meat
ham -- can be high in sodium, full of nitrates
pork chops -- fried frequently
pork rinds -- fried, fatty portion of the pig

If you prepare wisely, eating pork tenderloin is like eating chicken breast. Also, the current commercial crop of pigs are bred to be very lean, so if you compare pork from today to the ones from 30 years ago, they are a lot less fat.

One of my favorite healthy choices at a taqueria is tacos al pastor. basically grilled, marinated lean pork. Tastier and equally as healthy as the grilled chicken.

============================

In the past thirty years, pork has been raised in a manner to reduce the amount of fat on the carcass. In general, the leaner cuts of pork have less fat than chicken.

On the other hand, chicken seems have significantly more fat, especially in the thigh regions. I have pulled off at least six ounces of fat off of a 3# chicken.

What healthy food can not be made unhealthy.

Not really. If you look through your links more thoroughly, you'll see that many cuts of pork are leaner than many cuts of beef and chicken. There is more to pork than bacon, and more ways to prepare pork than frying it in a pan.
