Hardly ever, we had 4 kids - gets expensive to eat out. Sometimes our Gram would take me out for a hotdog at the local hot dog joint. This is pre-fast food. Back then you had hot dog stands for fast food. We did have a local BK - in the old days with the "old school" king and the sign was neon. No McDs in our town til the 80s - which was bizarre since the Mcdonalds corp hq was in the next town. Dad would do take out once in a while - pizza (Chicago metro has numerous great local pizza places) and chinese and white castles. On vacation though, we used to go to an old-school supper club... nice! STILL like supper clubs
