I was thinking about this when reading the What's on tonight's dinner menu and I noticed many members have some sort of dessert after dinner like cake, cookies or pie. I'll assume many of these desserts are homemade or bought from a local bakery. I have dessert after dinner too but not every night and usually it's something like a skinny cow ice cream bar or low fat no sugar added ice cream or fruit. How about you?

In my house we only do it on weekends, and it can be anything from cake to jello to ice cream to pie, whatever. During the week there is no formal desert, but the kids are free to eat a piece of fruit if they want.

None of the poll choices apply to me. I very rarely, but not never have dessert after dinner. Even on holidays I usually eat my dessert the next day as I am too tired and stuffed to eat anything that night. Sometimes during the summer I will have a scoop of ice cream before bed, but never right after dinner.

I eat something sweet pretty much every day, but I eat it whenever I want- not directly after dinner, so I just think of it as a snack.

I never have dessert right after dinner, but I may nibble something sweet a few hours later a couple nights a month. On formal dinners where there is a dessert course, I usually try to take my portion home with me because I like my desserts for breakfast... absolutely nothing better than pie and coffee in the morning, yum!

Being diabetic means I rarely eat sweets but I do serve fruit, yogurt, cheese to my family. They are not used to it on a regular basis at all. I love to bake but I've just about given it up. With the holidays here I am planning a few desserts cause we will have some company.

I notice too how many folks have dessert regularly. I also notice a lot of folks have a protein, 2 veggies and a starch and sometimes a salad and dessert. if this is every night they must be very physically active. I wouldn't be able to walk if I ate that much every meal or even 2 or 3 times a week. Most nights I will serve a meat, 1 green veggie and salad or a pasta casserole and a salad.

I rarely do....I'm not a huge fan of sweet foods in general. I do have a few things that I will make an exception for, meaning, they do appeal to me. Otherwise it's not that appealing. If only I felt the same way about chips and salty things...that's my weakness...but that's another thread

It's a rarity to have dessert. I might do it when out with friends, but normally, I don't.
