Coffee. Dunno whats wrong but the last few pots haven't been so great.
When I clean my espresso machine once/wk with Cafiza tablets, my first few espressos taste like pure joy... the flavor slowly diminishes over the week. May not be your issue, but some days I just find my taste is off, too. We're mysterious creatures.

I had never heard of this. Thanks for the heads up, I just found it on Amazon.

You're very welcome, Lilly & btw, the Cafiza tablets last a long time (1-2-yrs... 100 tablets so it depends upon if using 1 or 2 per cleaning), however, the container doesn't have instructions written in English as they're from Italy. If you decide to buy them, I'd be happy to help you with directions (I'm a Cafiza cleaning expert now )... & good work, Amazon is the cheapest place to purchase them. Additionally, they can be used in any coffee maker (including FR press)... even though the product description is for espresso maker.
Using filtered water is something else which makes a huge difference, too. My water in SoCal is very hard (& previously in Denver, as well), so the flavor is off sans a Brita filter. The few times I've had to make espresso with tap water, it's been rather unenjoyable... it seems the palate adjusts to a more clean brew... yes, I'm a self-admitted espresso snob.
Also, should this help, when I first bought Cafiza, I was terribly confused, so inquired of the C-D crew. Elina listed an alternate method with different products, but my pleading thread might provide some help. Viewing it for the 1st time in years, my posts are comical in my utter confusion at the thought of coffee pot cleaning. BTW, it only takes 1-2 tablets to properly clean the machine. I can happily help you or anyone else with that, as well. Just DM me. Also, you might like Elina's method better... she uses a different product... citric acid & I clean more often... once/wk as compared to once/50-brews. BTW, Starbucks cleans their brewers once/day. I can taste the difference, so once/wk works fine for me... that's once/14-21 brews.
Your coffee will be tasting superior in no time! And, cheers for mentioning your dilema... it slipped my mind that I've only 1/2-dozen tablets left & need to reorder. Sorry for bogarting the thread RainRoosty, but I thought the info might be useful to others... a lot of us are coffee lovers here. Have fun, All!
