Even though I'm not Jewish, tonight I made a batch of latkes from an instant mix I picked up at Whole Foods. Can't remember the brand... yummy on a damp chilly day though.

Fried them in corn oil rather than the more traditional olive oil, but they turned out pretty nicely.

I usually buy the lime/lemon pickle but in summer I cut limes in quarters,add salt,turmeric and white vinegar and let it sit for 4 weeks in a closed glass jar til soft.We like it better than with oil.
