My fridge went kaput recently and is un-repairable. I have a new one ordered but it's going to be at least 10 days before I can pick it up.

I live in a small cabin in the middle of many thousands of acres of wilderness, and as a result I don't have access to an oven or stove. All I have is a microwave and a toaster oven.

Any suggestions on what I could eat for the next 10 days that doesn't have to be refrigerated, frozen or cooked on a stove or oven?

I was thinking things like canned soups, fresh fruits that don't have to be refrigerated, snack foods like crackers chips and nuts, etc.

You can make scrambled eggs and bacon in micro.

Tuna salad (packed in a can) sandwich. There are those complete meals that are not refridgarated I think they are hormel if you want some pasta meals.

How big is your toaster oven, you might be able to do more if it is big enough.

Where do you get your groceries and fresh fruit with that degree of isolation?

Huh, same as us right now, the fridge is out, and we move at the end of the month. I am thinking PB and jelly sandwiches, apples, canned soup, ramen. It is fairly cold now where we live, and I could leave things out on the porch, in a cooler.

Pasta with canned sauce. I bought some milk in small boxes, to use for cereal.

Baked potatoes with various toppings. Rice can be cooked in the microwave, or can be bought pre-cooked. Most canned prepared foods (IMO) aren't that great. But can be doctored a bit to taste better. Onions don't need refrigeration, and can pep up things like canned chili, which is great over potatoes or rice. Canned proteins, like tuna, chicken, corned beef can be fixed many ways.

And if you want something fancier, get yourself an electric skillet or a crock pot. That would up your options quite a bit.

I can drive about half an hour into town where there is a supermarket. I have to really plan what I need ahead of time, because I'm not running back into town just to pick up something I forgot!

You could try those Hormel Complete meals, I've tried them and didn't like them. But some people must like them if they keep making them. I really enjoy the Barilla Italian Entrees. It is pasta that you microwave and pour the sauce on. And there's always Chef Boy R D.

Oatmeal can be microwaved and you can add to it sugar and cinnamon for taste (no milk necessary).

1. Invest in a propane stove.

2. Order Domino's, 30 minutes or it's free.

2a. Don't forget the 2liter bottle of coke.

You should get a hotplate and use it as you would a stove.
