I saw this on Inside Edition, I think. I have to say it kind of turned my stomach. Petite woman attacking that steak and you know the meat was not thoroughly chewed - I hate to imagine what that is doing (or did) to her intestines/colon.
I just glanced at the picture and found the size of that slab of meat disgusting. I can see a Polar bear (an obligate carnivore) eating that size of protein at one sitting but a human .... What people will do for attention/celebrity - sad.

Many really competitive eaters are small. The idea is that their stomachs don't have a lot of mass around them as would the stomach of a bigger person, so they can more easily stretch out. Consider the hot dog eating champions:

I will temper my response by saying that I do not intend to get into a heated debate.
This is one person who hopefully knows the affect of that action on the body and who has decided that the benefit of possible celebrity negates the effect on the physiology.
I will not address all of the professional athletes or actors because each action needs to be critiqued individually.
I like steak as much as anybody (and The Big Texan is as good as it gets in Amarillo, even though the clip wasn't from there), but it's dangerous for anyone to consume something that big in such a short time. It's not good for the digestive system.
Give me a steak one-fourth that size, and I'd be all over it (though not in just 3 minutes).
