Tues is our bridge pot luck and I signed up for a hot dish, the problem: we play at the bank and there is no stove, so it has to be crock pot something. I was thinking of making a creamed chicken dish with biscuits. I thought I could make the biscuits before I leave the house and take the chicken in the crock pot. Does anyone else have any ideas?

I'd probably skip the biscuits (I hate to bake) and do a chicken chili aka white chili.

Alternatively, I have a Pyrex dish that comes with an insulated bag so stuff stays hot (or cold) for several hours. Using that would expand the choices to include lasagna, baked ziti, some kind of fancy Mac 'n cheese with ham, enchiladas.

Actually maybe using my insolated carrier would work. It will have to stay hot for about 2 hours. I leave here about 10am and we have lunch about noonish. The chili idea won't work cause we won't have any anything to really serve it in. The facilities are very limited. I like the idea of mac and cheese.

Anyone else have some suggestions? I wonder about chic and noodles?

Chicken and noodles or chicken and dumplings - now that's something I can get my head around.

If you don't have anything to serve Chili in...how will you serve chic and noodles?

If you can't plug in your crockpot, I would do something like a quiche or platter of sandwiches.

RELAX

You did not mention how many were going to be in attendance, So I'll wing it

Cook off a whole chicken how ever you like, get a box of uncle Ben's original
wild rice follow the directions for the rice, then cut up the chicken and add
to the rice mixture while adding 1/4 tsp of garlic minced or fresh but never powered
add 1/2tsb of real butter and a 1/4 cup of chicken broth, 1/2 cup of fried bacon cut up
and through everything into the crock pot on low for about 1 & 1 1/2 hours.

Timing will be the key here as to when the events starts and most importantly when
the feeding begins, I'd suggest that Grands Biscuits go extremely well with this and
can be done well before hand as the heat of the dish will warm them up when people
lap up the goodness

Enjoy and best of all GOOD LUCK

I'm confused lol...what would you serve mac and cheese in or any other dish you make? LOL

I would buy disposable paper bowls and a box of disposable utensils and bring a ladle

I stopped reading at "we play at the bank" ... Nita, I'm perplexed. I'll let everyone else help you with the food ideas; I just want to know why you're playing bridge at a bank.

I have already signed up for a hot dish, we do have plug ins, just no oven. Someone said, how could I serve chicken and noodles; my chicken and noodles is more life a casserole than soupy.

Now, as it turns out we are having it in someone's home, so we will have access to an oven. I think I have boiled it down to mac and cheese or pork and noodles.

thanks for all your suggestions.

Well I could tell you we play in the main area, next to the tellers, but I bet you wouldn't believe me. The bank has a very large training and meeting room with an entrance at the side of the building. Oh, and btw, it dawned on us a few days ago, Tues is Veterans day, the bank is closed, so we moved it to someone's home. There will be about 20 of us.
