I don't care to drink while I'm eating. It wasn't a conscious decision. It just gradually happened. I keep a glass of water or iced tea handy but I rarely drink any during my meal.
This isn't extremely important, just curious: how many people other than myself prefer to not have beverages with meals?
Interesting, this question came up about a month or so ago, only the person was inquiring about what you drink at a restaurant, which might be different. We usually have wine with dinner or a glass of water. I do like something, but it isn't a must like when my parents were alive. As a child we had milk every night for dinner and mom and dad had coffee.

I found that when I eat soup or salads, I don't care for a beverage. Other times I usually have water or unsweetened iced tea. Depending on the food, I sometimes need a diet cola (usually chinese food or a burger).
I tend to eat highly flavored or spicy foods so a quick sip of something refreshes my palate. I often have green tea or water. I rarely have a refill though and end up finishing it after I eat.
I don't drink anything with meals. Not that I have anything against it, but when I'm eating, I am not thirsty. (Exception for a sip of water if the food is exceptionally spicy, but I will have to get up and get it--I don't have a glass of water on the table at home while I'm eating.)
This is only the kazillionth thread on the topic, but my preference never changes: I want water with meals.
