Trader Joe's has a 85% coca chocolate lovers bar for $1.49. Its very high in fat and fiber so you stay full for a while. The percentage of sugar (and sweetness) is about equivalent of your average vegetable. If your not dieting, it pairs very well with sweets like fresh figs or a glass of port.
It's not desserty, but I think salsa is the most awesome healthy snack. Carrots dipped in hummus aren't bad either.
The real trick, though, is to give up your habit. I mean this kindly: it's hard to keep weight down and have "munchy" habits. I had to pick keeping my weight down over munching.
Hard habit to break, but worth it.

Breaking the "munchy" habit - noooooooooooooooooooo
I know for me, it's comforting to know I can turn on the TV, "get into" somebody else's life (and out of mine) and comfort myself with munchies.
THESE Garden Veggie Chips http://www.walmart.com/ip/Sensible-P...-7-oz/20369844 are great for crunch/salty and not too bad for calories if you can control yourself and just pour out a small bowl of them (I get ours at Walmart) No additives and no artificial flavors. They taste like chips to me.
Popcorn has been my hands-down favorite since childhood. I also like multigrain crackers spread with wedges of the light Laughing Cow cheese, or mashed avocado.
My husband loves carrots...not baby carrots, though...full-size carrots, peeled and sliced lengthwise into long "planks." He then seasons them one by one with Lawry's seasoned salt and chows down while watching TV.
This, so much this! I dislike baby carrots and will by large carrots and cut them up myself because the taste and texture is soooooo much better. Baby carrots really have no taste.
I am not sure if it is healthy but I snack on pickles sometimes. I think they are high in sodium though.
It's not a hunger or "fullness" issue; a nervous habit or just an enjoyable habit. Maybe I should buy a pacifier, LOL.
One of my favorite things to do when wanting a snack is to make some kale chips. Wayyyy better than it sounds and only takes about 10-15 minutes. You can get the bagged kale that is already washed and just lay it out on a baking sheet, top with a bit of olive or other oil, some sea salt and into the oven for around 10 minutes. Alternate method is to use a Ziploc to shake the kale with the olive oil. Use a lot of kale since it will shrink like crazy.
We have made them for a lot of people and almost everyone likes them. The great thing is they cool off in just a couple minutes so you can eat them almost immediately.
