I'm in the bad habit of knoshing on something while watching TV or reading before bed, but just learned that my go-to snack -- penny candy -- although it doesn't have fat or many calories, causes weight gain because of the spike it causes in blood sugar/insulin. What are your favorites just to have something to mindlessly munch on?

greek yogurt, pickled herring, coleslaw, any veggie or protein in the fridge. Weird snack foods, but I don't snack on anything I wouldn't eat for a regular meal if I'm hungry. If i'm hungry I just eat real food.

Unsalted whole almonds, or unsalted roasted almonds. No guilt snacks.

In the old days, Salsa Verde Doritos, Tim's Jalapeno Potato Chips or Lays Jalapeno Kettle Potato Chips. I'd end up eating the whole bag, which is terrible for you.

My main go to would be popcorn and pretzels. You can have a larger portion then many unhealthy snacks so they are quite filling. I also like peanuts to for munching on while watching TV. It's not as satisfying as some snacks but I do like celery sticks. I may put a little peanut butter on them for more flavor. I love popcorn though, I usually go for it first. I always get a craving for Doritos at times.. So hard not to give in and eat the whole bag haha

Yes, chocolate and chips go so well together! Yum!

I like popcorn ok, but it has to be smothered with butter and Flavocal salt, or the cheese variety or caramel corn, so no health benefits there.

Pretzels are good - sometimes I dip them in Marzetti's dill dip.

Cheddar goldfish crackers but they're probably bad for you.

One of my favorite things, though, is cucumbers sliced up with onions into some vinegar and sugar - then I chill it for about an hour. It's not pickles, really - not sure what it really is except really good when you're on the deck reading a book during the summer.

I also like graham crackers, or dry cereal - but those probably aren't too healthy either.

I do a lot of moderation, though...

You want healthy snacks? Plain Greek yogurt, frozen berries, fresh vegetables and Laughing Cow cheese spread, celery or carrots and peanut butter, a slice of Turkey or lean ham rolled up over a fool pickle spear.

Frozen grapes are great. They still have a lot of sugar in them, but something about them being frozen makes them taste sweeter and the texture makes them fun to snack on.

I also love cut up apples with peanut butter on them. The all natural PB with nothing but peanuts and salt on the ingredients label.
