I've been drinking organic skim milk for years, and yes, there is a huge difference in taste, but I was reading that 1% is actually a little better for you.

I know there is more calcium in skim which is important.

Does anyone have any good knowledge on this subject?

Skim or fat free milk is awful, and not that healthy at all...

I trust Mother Nature--there is a reason the fat is there. It keeps you fuller longer, and fat carries flavor. I think it's better to consume a small quantity of full-fat dairy than to eat or drink a lot of fat-free stuff. Also, the amount of calcium is the same whether skim, low fat, reduced fat, or whole. Shouldn't make a difference if we're comparing cow's milk. I think the amount for other animals--sheep, goat, etc.--may be different.

I think we have been sold bunch of false information in some cases. I do think skim milk tastes better than years ago; at least it isn't blue in color, but I also do not think it is any better for you than other milks. Yes, it is lower in fat and calories, but I am sure 1 or 2% is just fine. We usually do keep skim: spoiled brat doesn't know the difference and he is the only real milk drinker in the family.

The presence of fat lowers the glycemic index as skim milk is basically just sugar water. The fat content also facilitiates the uptake of the vitamins and minerals in your diet. Furthermore, the calorie difference between skim and 1% milk is bordeline negligible.

We use 2%, I think 1% tastes too watery.

Whole milk only.

Skim milk was a byproduct that they used to just throw away because it had no value. Somebody came up with marketing it as a "health" product and it hit the shelves. It was never a food product sold directly to the public before that.

Again, whole milk only. Especially for kids.

Also, put half and half in your coffee in the morning. You will feel fuller until lunch, not snack and actually save on calories.

Again whole milk. What's the point of skim or 1% or 2% or whatever?

Milk should be used to provide nourishment to adolescents and part of that nourishment is the fat. IMO adults don't need to drink milk.

Skim milk for drinking, 2% for Greek yogurt, paneer, savory ricotta, and whole for sweet ricotta.

I rarely drink milk straight (I just don't like drinking any calories in general), but I do make all my own yogurt, paneer, and ricotta.

I buy non-homogenized Jersey milk from a local dairy, so it is up to you how much fat you ultimately want to drink or put in something.

I put grass fed butter in my coffee in the morning thanks.

Guys, I like the taste of less fat milk.

I asked a question specifically about skim and 1% NOT if I should be drinking full fat milk.

I eat a lot of cheese thanks and get my dairy fat from that and butter.

I do not care for full fat milk.

Again, does anyone know the difference between skim and 1%? Nutritionist claim a difference and I've read conflicting information.

Not one of you answered my question but proceeded to tell me I should drink full fat milk.
