I tried to search but it seems it's virtually impossible using food processors. No one is going to use a knife to split single almonds one by one. How do the commercial factories do it?

A mandolin maybe? A razor blade? I've actually seen people use a razor blade to get garlic slivers - be sure to get the one sided blades. AND BE CAREFUL.

Blanch the almonds,
remove the skin,
blanch some more to soften the almonds,
split into halves,
slice halves into slivers with a sharp knife.

The title asks how to make at home but the question asked was how to they do it commercially.

That is the way to go. Let them dry well before using.

Same here. I'd eat the bag of whole almonds with some cheese and fruit, and buy the slivered ones at the store.

Agreed - I once lived abroad in a country where you could only buy the nuts whole with skin on. I had to learn how to blanch, split and slice my own. Sliced almonds - fuhgeddaboutit. So glad we can get little pouches of them just about every supermarket.
