I thought food trucks and street vendors selling delicious edibles is a fast-growing movement in the United States.
We surely have plenty of those in Houston/Austin/San Antonio area. They sell tacos, burgers, BBQ, sandwiches, ribs, chicken, kabobs, some food pretty awesome.
What I am missing are street food festivals like Taste of Chicago, or similar outdoor food festivals showcasing the food diversity.

I agree, here in our area it is probably the fastest growing trend.
Besides hot dogs, kebabs, and fried doughs etc. which can be found in any city, there is literally no street food scene in the US?
There is. What areas are you talking about?

Yeah food trucks are everywhere and at every event. Yesterday I was at a craft fair-there were food trucks there. Friday I was at the city's tree lighting ceremony-food trucks were there.
I didn't eat at one yesterday but I did Friday. I had poutine.
Wrong. Most American cities have lots of street food.
In my limited experience, I would rate Phily as the best. I spent two weeks there and didn't eat a single sit down meal and has some of the best Thai, Korean, Middle Eastern, American food one could have.
But food trucks are flourishing all over.
their natural enemy is the brick and mortar restaurant which resist them like the plague. But, politicians know we want street food.

I feel like both have their place, easily.
