Just don’t ever let a blackberry bramble start in your yard! Yikes!

oh, we had them in Eureka CA years ago. In fact they grew wild everywhere and there were no deer to eat them. I would can them all summer or make jam. At least we always had enough in the cans to make berry pie all winter.

Wild in the woods is great...spreading all over your trees, fence, etc., not so much.

Here in the Berkshires both black and blue berry's will be ripe mid to late August at the latest. Margaritas and jam every year!! Our raspberry's and black cap's are just starting to ripen now.

It can't be worse than English ivy and vinca. It took years to get rid of those.

There are a dozen or more blackberry patches around DD's place. They aren't the typical wild seedy ones, they are big and juicy, so I am sure a previous owner planted the bushes. I went out to pick this week with grandsons, because the berries are just starting to ripen here. Needless to say, the kids ate as many as we picked. I have to check the patches before taking them to pick...I found poison ivy in a few of them. Trying to teach a 4 1/2 and 1 1/2 year old to identify "leaves of three, let them be" is hard. I'm hoping to go out by myself next week (alone) and get enough to make a blackberry crumb pie or at least a couple of cobblers.
