I eat the pickles, don't drink the juice.

I used to tell a story of old people at the supermarket opening up the jars of pickles and drinking the brine. It used to drive my wife crazy, so naturally that just got me to talk about it more.

I'm not sure that it actually happens, though.

Never. Must confess I do drink sauerkraut juice but dislike pickles.

People drink pickle juice? Who knew?

Sometimes I'll toss some of the juice into potato salad when adding the chopped pickles to make it smoother. Saves adding too much mayonnaise.

I wonder if there's any pickle recipes out there which take into consideration that the juice may be for drinking?

It's for sale at my local grocery store next to the coconut water as an alternative to Gatorade.

I don't drink it but I do poach chicken breasts in it, instead of water, to make chicken salad.

Nope. First off, I have to avoid sodium. Secondly, I have Barrett's Esophagus and I don't think my gastroenterologist would approve - that stuff would damage my esophagus more than it already is.

I volunteer at the food tent at a large bike race/event. I could not believe how popular pickles and the juice were.
