When I went in and bought a sub the other day the screen automatically went to a tip display screen after I swiped my card.
A footlong cold cut is already almost $8 and it's not like it's a great sandwich or anything. No way I'm gonna make it into a $10 sandwich by adding a tip, sorry.
First time I'd seen that screen. I guess they always did have a small tip jar, now that I think about it.would you tip at subway?
It could be the system. I vaguely remember there being a tip line on the receipt at the one near work (that I last went to over a year ago). I just ignored it.

My tip is to get a better job.
There is no way I would ever tip any one at a big chain/corporation.
A lot of big corporations use tax avoidance schemes and make significant profits, so why should I subsidise their employees, when they could pay them more themselves.
A better idea still is to use local sandwich shops, many of which are much better than the big chains.
Only if I was one of those people that brought in orders for the entire office (all separately billed of course), or I wanted some other gawdawful complicated PITA order that was out of the ordinary.
I normally don’t tip for counter service, but one time, I went to Subway and there was one young woman working behind the counter. She did not get flustered, despite the fact that the line went out the door. She was very efficient. I tipped her $5. because I felt bad that her boss was too cheap to hire enough people.
I don't mind a tip jar on the counter. I typically don't tip for something like Subway. I dislike making you press a button on the checkout - it's very easy to mindlessly press and give a tip, even if you don't intend to.
