I just picked up a copy of Ramen Girl and LOVED it! It was so sweet and sad considering recent events but I highly recommend it - especially if you have a thing for Japan which I do!

This is funny. I just started a thread about making timpano, which I first learned about in the movie "Big Night." I searched old threads to see if anyone had posted a thread about it before, but I didn't see this new thread about foodie movies.

Anyway, you have to see Big Night. To me, it's one of those movies where every scene is perfect (I feel the same about Chocolat). And you will come away from it STARVING.

You have a very good list here. Mostly Martha is very good, too (like someone said, the original - I haven't seen the remake). Pieces of April was good, but I don't remember it being so much about the food as the family relationships - I could be wrong, though. I just don't remember.

Fried Green Tomatoes. When the ladies are cooking it's cozy. My dad liked fried green tomatoes.

Eat Drink Man Woman has been mentioned. For pure craft of cooking it's hard to beat. Here are excerpts:

At 8:27 is an especially good clip. This is how I've seen making a kind of eggroll skin demonstrated, from Filipino to Chinese to the many other Far Eastern cuisines. Absolutely amazing.

Pieces of April is a nice movie. Not so much foodie, but it is centered around a meal. Thanks for the list, there are a few I haven't heard of.

No Reservations is a basic romantic comedy, but the kitchen scenes are pretty fun.

I just watched it. Pretty good movie, and it highlighted Ramen culture, which is always fascinating, just like Tampopo did
