Not a fan of sour cream here. I like my Mexican with lots of cheese, onions, tomatoes, and cilantro.

Sour cream makes the taco or burrito. But as long as everything else was there, the ground beef, picante, jack/cheddar cheese, onions, chiles, lettuce, tomato, its still good.
Other than that the only food I like sour cream on is a baked potato. I'm not even big on dips for chips.

Actually Mexican food does NOT use sour cream. Sigh...piling on the sour cream...another horrifying way for America to butcher delicious ethnic food and then cry about it "making me faaaaat". Le Blah.

Yeah!!! What is wrong with letting the tast of food come out on its own without covering it in butter or sour cream?

Sorry couldn't resist being smarmy....

The answer is No, they do not. Authentic food from Mexico is amazing, fresh and diverse...Not the omnipresent cheesy tubes of fat that we (and I!!) happily ingest at strange hours of the night.

Sour cream was added by Americans to help alleviate the burn of the spice/pepper...going down and coming out. I don't think it enhances the flavor one bit, I don't like it on my Mexican food.

Mexican food does not have much sour cream... but I do love it though!

I hardly ever have sour creamed food at Mex restaurants, but it's very nice to have a dollop on top of my homemade black bean/sausage stew and wrap it in a corn tortilla. Yum.

Seems to me that everybody is missing the point here.
Is it Mexican with sour cream? WHO CARES?
400 pounds (unless you're exaggerating) is the issue that needs to be addressed.
