I went to one of them, back in April this year, for a friend of mine who suffered from compulsive overeating (but she lost over 150 lbs since joining the group about 4 years ago!!). I was there for moral support for her (but at the time, I had a drinking problem and was going to Alcoholics Anonymous). I found it interesting and listening to the stories. And some of them too suffered from alcoholism also (cross-addiction; compulsive overeating and alcoholism).

Has anyone been to one and did/do you enjoy it? Has it saved your life from a life out of control eating?

I have never been to either of these, but I know someone who would benefit by going. He eats emotionally.

It would be a good idea if he went. Most of people in that meeting were emotional eaters. Some said they would be in a trancelife/blackout state when they ate!! Kind of like someone who drank too much, would blackout. It was the same for these folks....

Wow. I have known him to gain up to 18 lbs in a day and that cannot be a good thing.

but then it is the opposite, he can lose that much in a day.

I have no idea what this is doing to his body.

Well, you can rest assure that whatever it's doing to his body, is bad and dangerous. He should try to seek help.

Wow guys, I screwed up. This was meant for another topic. Is there anything that bothers you while you are cooking? I must of had two windows open. I was wondering why my reply wasn't showing up over there.

Sorry I bet you guys were like WTF? My face is red...
