Every time I visit the nut isle, I find it difficult to make up my mind. I love most nuts, except Brasil nuts--which seem to overly represent the nuts in mixed nut containers. I have a special love for the pricer nuts for many reasons. The macademia nut has a rich, almost buttery flavor. The pecan has a taste of light mustard, which is irrestible. The textures are different as well, but equally satisfying. The macademia is rich and coats my tongue with a hardy layer of deliciousness. Now, the roasted pecan is so crisp that my need for something crunchy is immediately satisfied. I don't think these quality nuts should be mixed. They are good enough alone. Roasted and salted pecans seem to be in shorter supply. Then, there are the pecans with a layer of sugar and cinnamon--heaven What are your thoughts on the macademia nut and pecan?
Honestly, I haven't met many foods that I don't like -- althought the suckling pig and tripe discussed on the forum would fall into this category! I love all nuts, but if I had to chose one it would be pecans. (Maybe it's because I'm from Georgia -- we have tons of pecan groves in south Georgia). Anything you can do with the pecan is fine with me! I always fix the roasted ones at Christmas. Pecan pie is high on my favorite dessert list. Wish I had a piece right now, but I'm trying to lose a pound or two. All sweets with pecans are good -- my favorite is the delicious praline. I pretty much use only pecans in my baking, except at Christmas. My mother always made a fruit salad with Brazil nuts, so I fix that. For some reason we used walnuts in the Waldorf salad instead of pecans, so I have them around, too. When I run out of these nuts after Christmas, I use pecans the rest of the year. Sometimes I put pecans in chicken salad. Finally, I love trout cooked in a pecan crust or pecan meal. Yum -- it's a good thing I just ate supper!

Come visit Hawaii and you will get your fill of mac nuts REAL fast. We have caramacs, chocolate covered macs, garlic and onion macs and even spam flavored mac nuts. Just the other night I tried mac nut liquor!
However, mac nuts (and pistachios) are definitely my favorite. I like that they are not too hard but not at all soft, while also have a very full flavor. My favorite mac nut food item is hands down Mac nut icecream!!!

I love macadamia nuts. We were recently in L.A. and picked up some Lacey's Milk Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies at Trader Joe's...swoon. Love pecans too, and walnuts.
Macadamia nuts are the food of the gods.... mmmmm I don't buy them too often because they are so expensive. Love pecans, too, I always have them in my pantry!
