I may have mentioned this before, but I don't think there is much in our area we are truly noted for. We do grow a lot of summer produce and our local grocery stores will sell it over transported in products. We also have great locally raised beef and pork. Oh, of course I guess the chicken capitol of the world is AR or close anyway. We have plants everywhere; we are the headquarters for Tyson, as well as many smaller producers.

My uncle built a Santa Maria style grill. Had some mighty tasty tri tip off of it.

The plate in your pic looks great (though I like a much redder piece of meat). The salsa, the pintos, fresh salad greens... A perfect meal. One question, though, what is that in the upper right part of the plate?

Some of the best things about this area are wild lowbush BLUEBERRIES, fresh fish and chips, blueberry muffins, corn on the cob in late summer, and pizza. I don't like pizza. I could live on fish and chips with blueberries on the side.
well you can have our Midwestern, slightly southern food and I will eat all the seafood you don't want.

Awesome, but for some reason I don't think of bbq being a CA regional thing: Grew up there: I think of Mexican, seafood and maybe even Chinese. I will still add, again, it looks great. I guess with the grilled bread and the beans I can see Ca in it. One other CA food that comes to mind for me, avocados and all fruits, plus a great glass of wine.

It seems the 3 most important cuisines in America are: Mexican, Italian, and Chinese. You'll find all 3 cuisines in every mall in America.

Default What American regional foods (in major cities) are widely known in the country?

When people travel to New York, for example, is there anything most people want to try because it is famous/special? (Bagels do not count.)

I can think of Kansas City BBQ. It seems everyone knows it and likes it.

Los Angeles is so diverse, but what comes to mind is Mexican foods and avocados. Guacamole.

So many groves of avocados have been destroyed in the fires. Some wineries too in No Calif.
