Often, if not always. Yogurt will tell you if it's bad. You'll know. It's usually good for a long time past the exp. date since it's full of "good" bacteria that ward off the baddies. If there's a funky odor or color (starts turning yellow or growing fuzz), toss it. Otherwise, I just pour off the extra whey (liquid) that forms and eat it up.
Yogurt usually just gets more tart as it sits. I make my own yogurt and I try to use it within two weeks, but my mom has used it after a month and it was fine.
Yogurt past the expiration date? Nope. I won't use any dairy products past the expiration date except some cheese like mozzarella, cheddar, provolone, etc.

Me too. ^^^ This! I also keep it out of the fridge (on kitchen countertop) for few days till I eat them all. Yogurt lasts a surprisingly long time before you see any changes.
The short answer to your question is that yoghurt/yogurt will not become "dangerous" after the "expiration date" even outside the refrigerator.
So, say goodbye to days of throwing out your half-eaten tub of yogurt, because this is another dairy product you can eat after its package labels it "expired." Open yogurt will spoil sooner than unopened yogurt, but sealed yogurt will usually last 2-3 weeks past the sell-by date. I have eaten it way longer after expiration date, but generally I don't pay attention to the "expiration date" silliness at all. https://www.reference.com/food/long-...e8e4fc7ce9edaf
I would say that the yogurt is safe to eat if there is no visible mold forming near the top where some condensation has occurred (and the acidity is less). Best not to eat it at that stage.
