Do you guys eat the Butt (the ends) on a loaf of Bread? I just walk my fingers right over them and when im done with the bag, throw it, and the two ends right in the Garbage. I hate the taste of them.

My son had a friend who called it the "elbow". Husband doesn't mind them, I would rather have the middle of the bread...

It's our favorite part of a loaf. If I have to toss bread, the ends won't be there. Waiting for someone to make the Bag of Bread Butts, I'd buy that!

Agreed!

The other alternative is to save them (freeze while you save), toast them (20+) in the oven and make bread crumbs. Or, they make great French toast or bread pudding!

I don't eat them, but my dog has no such qualms. (He's so handy to have around.)

I keep the loaf ends (heels) in the freezer until I have enough to make a delicious strata (savory bread pudding). Made one last week with multi-grain bread, leeks, cheese, eggs and mushrooms. Another favorite is made with a dill flavored rye bread, cream cheese, zucchini, mushrooms, and cheddar on top.

I discovered strata many years ago thanks to my late mother-in-law. There are a zillion variations on strata and they can be a handy way to use up fresh vegetables, bits of sausage or cheese, as well as the bread. Just google strata recipes for ideas, although you won't even need a recipe after you make one a few times.

Ditto on the "heels" name.
Ditto on the dog being handy for this type of thing
However only gets them occasionally. I use them for toasted bread crumbs, stuffing, bread pudding.
Store bread has really wimpy ones but home made bread now that is a different type of heel.

If it's good bread, like Pepperidge Farm, I make crumbs and store them in the freezer for my recipes that use fresh crumbs.

I also use them for bread crumbs.

Another really good use for them is bread pudding. I store them in a bag in the freezer as well. When I get a good amount, I make bread pudding.
