Everybody seems to want a Ford Escape for some reason. My local used car dealer cann't keep them in stock.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Ford is the latest U.S. automaker to announce it is hiring again.
Ford said Thursday it will add 1,800 workers at a plant in Louisville to build the Escape, the second best-selling small SUV in the U.S. after the Honda CR-V.
As dull and plain looking as they are, don't understand why people want them.
The hybrid gets better mpg than any suv that I know of, practical, solid reliablity. Good all around family car.
People complain when Nissan comes out with someone like the Cube, then people complain when vehicles just look normal, I personally think people just like complaining....
The new plant in Louisville, Kentucky is the one where the Ford Sport Trac was built before it was discontinued. My Sport Trac was built there. My wife has a 08 Escape, nice little truck. She drives with a very light foot and gets over 30 mpg on the freeway.
The Escape seems to collect some haters here at city data, but not many.

Yup haters can keep on hating but my Escape has been extremely reliable for me and handles great for a relatively small SUV yet has enough space to hold a family of 4 with a lot of gear. Glad to see this vehicle doing well and as a result, Ford adding jobs.
Go Ford, and like I said before...haters keep on hating!
We just bought a 2011 last Saturday. We traded our 2002 Escape w/ 126,000. The Escape was the only one we even considered. Well, we looked at the Edge, but it was more than we needed and more $. The only decision we had to make was which color (blue or red, definitely NOT silver) and which equipment. I do think the Escape looks bald without the roof rack so that was one must have, even though who knows if we'll ever use it. It is the perfect size for our family of three. Since we bought it I've had two people at work ask me about it and say they are considering the Escape. As far as it being "plain looking", that is the exact reason we give to people as to why we didn't look at the CRV or RAV4. They also seem a bit smaller to us. I have to say that not having to take bailout money was also a minor factor, but we've had quality Fords since we bought our '95 Escort wagon.
We got what we felt was a pretty good deal and the incentives were pretty good. $2k cash back an 1.9% for 60 months, so we'll probably pay it off early.
