Thinking about buying a 2005 Ford F-250, 4x4 and Crew Cab Pick-up with 149,000 miles. It does have Ford's 6.0 Engine.

Junk. Unreliable and expensive to fix. Many of them failed way prematurely. Also, doing any serious work on them usually requires removing the cab from the truck to get access--$$$$$$. I love the 6.7 Ford diesel that I drive for my work--I wouldn't own a 6.0 if it was given to me.

The salesman said it's ok when the engine gets 100,000 miles on it. But you know sales people only want to sell and will tell you anything.

That's like saying that if a guy lives to be 90, he is less likely to die tomorrow. I wouldn't bet my money on it.

This can't be a serious question. In the time it took you to start this thread you could have typed this in to Google and opened up a flood gate of horror stories about this engine. To ask it means you already know the answer. Someone who truly doesn't know by now would've already bought the truck.

Meh stock its ok when new. 50k miles later issues start. . Once they get bulletproofed they are more reliable. It costs about 5k to bulletproof one. The main issues were EGR and oil coolers and blown head gaskets. Lots of guys bought performance programmers set them on high settings then went racing.
I would buy one ONLY IF the price was right and bulletproofed and the owner had proof of repairs.

The dealer wants 16,000 dollars for this truck and I think they will have a hard time selling it because of the engine. Why would a dealer even buy this truck in first place?

The bulletproofing needed to be done when the truck was new. If the motor is stock with 149,000 miles on it you have a ticking time bomb under the hood.

The Dealer is a business and most likely got the truck dirt cheap and they will find a sucker to buy it and they will make money off it, one way or the other.
