I was driving today and saw a newer Ford Super Duty Truck with a gas/diesel fill in the wheel well.
This is an urban area of Northeast state. The truck seemed lifted otherwise single rear wheel, normal pickup bed, and a gas/diesel fill door. On the same side as the regular fill door (left side of vehicle) there was a (second) gas/diesel fill neck leading to a fuel tank. The neck was smack in the wheel well may be a 6 inches or so above the top of the left rear tire. I wouldn't have noticed it except for the colored cap on the neck. I looked twice to make sure I saw right and thanks to gridlock I had plenty of time to observe.
it sounds to me like someone added a second tank from the aftermarket. that was common up until the factories added a second tank as an inexpensive option.

When I was little I always wanted to pump my families gas at the pump for them. This ended quickly after my grandpa let me fill up his truck...
