Some Crown Vic cabs in my area have huge triangular billboards on top. Others only have a (very small) sign on top with the cab company's name. Almost all Crown Vic cabs I see are ex-police vehicles. Might the cabs with ads have been marked police cars (thus with a light bar on top since replaced by the light-up billboard, with perhaps the same wiring) but the cabs with the small sign be old unmarked cars (or at least police cars without a light bar on top?

Different mounts. Just depends on whatever the cab company feels like screwing into the roof.

no. The large triangle is if the owner wants to sell ad space on the vehicle. It has nothing to do with what the car is. I have seen Toyota Camrys with a taxi billboard on top.

Thanks. Ironically, 9 out of 10 taxi ads I see are usually for booze, even though these very same cars probably transported many, many (arrested) drunks over the years.
