The ride quality is satisfactory so I don't think that new shock absorbers would solve the problem.
My Dodge Caravan enjoyed a small rear end lift when suitable shock absorbers were installed. I searched for comparable shocks for the Ford F-150 and found lift kits for the front end or the whole truck.
I seek an affordable solution that allows for carrying a heavier load without making the rear end sag too much.
Airbags? Thats what we have put on several of our trucks for fithwheels/trailers. The great thing about airbags is you can have stock ride quality when not in use (let the air out)
You need to quantify "heavier loads" and give more details on the specs of the truck. Single cab, supercab, supercrew, 4wd/2wd, gear ratio, engine size, etc....
You also need to calculate the truck's payload capacity to know when the load is too much.
Every truck has a payload capacity. If it's sagging too much you could be overloaded. Airbags and springs do not increase the payload capacity. What is listed is all that you have.
For example....
4x2 regular cab with the 5.4L V8 - 2,627 lbs (remember to subtract weight of fuel, any added cargo, and passengers)
4x2 super cab with the 5.4L V8 - 1,795 lbs

Fair enough. This what I know:
Engine: 281 CID V8
4x4 supercrew cab
5 1/2' rear box
gear ratio is unknown...seems normal. I would "guess" about a 3.2.
The reviews are positive from those who tow large trailers.
