In need of help from Ohio!

We have a 16 year old son with Down Syndrome. We are tired of fighting our local Ohio district, as well as the Ohio Department of Education, and still not getting any results under IDEA. We are looking for a safe, small town feel, yet progressive enough that individuals with special needs are not pushed aside or stereotyped. We, also, have a daughter - 13 - who is highly gifted, so we are at the extreme ends of the learning scale, trying to find a school district to meet both of our children's needs.

I am a former teacher - Secondary Social Studies - B.S. Ohio State - and certified to teach Montessori ages 3-6. Currently, I am a Trainer for Innovative Learning Concepts/TouchMath out of Colorado Springs, but train up and down the east coast, since we live in Ohio.

I am familiar with the Greeley/Fort Collins area, having lived there 30 years ago. What is the job/real estate situation like in the Fort Collins area? What are the schools like in Ft. Collins; re: inclusion opportunies other than music, gym, and art? My husband is a Columbus, Ohio Firefighter within a couple of years of retirement, but we are at a point where we are willing to consider a move to just about anywhere if it can meet our kids needs - special and gifted!
