As stated, your location will play a big factor. Fort Collins is very bicycle friendly with lots of bike lanes and paths. Public transportation ranges from OK to very good depending on how close you are to CSU.

The city itself has lots of green space and is excellent for outdoor activities. Frankly I would have loved to of lived there as a kid!

Thanks Mike and Bucketfoot. I can see by looking more closely at maps that there are some pockets that are more conducive to getting around by bike or bus. I think it's worth it for us to check the area out further.

I come from a large city in the east coast where drugs were rampant. I've lived in Fort Collins for half a year and have yet to encounter any type of drug problem here. Sure, pot is legal here and in every city or town with a college, you'll find your typical party drugs - X, cocaine, uppers, etc. - but no real problems. I'm not sure where your concern stems from. If you're aware of a major drug issue in Fort Collins, please let us know.

Thanks for the response.

I was asking more about meth and opioid drug problems. We've looked into lots of places on the East Coast with big problems.

Re: public transit

Around 3 million bus trips take place on FC's Transfort system per year. It has won best in state system several times recently.
