My husband and I are semi-retired and renting in Plantation. We are looking for an area that has less traffic, fewer planes flying overhead and more land between the houses. We are looking for homes in the $225K range. Can anyone recommend So. FL locations for us to check out? Would Naples or Palm Beach County be a better fit for us than Broward?
Thanks for your help -

Palm Beach County would be a great option close by. Look in areas like Boynton Beach, Delray Beach, Lake Worth, Wellington, Loxahatchee, Royal Palm Beach, Wellington, and Jupiter. Those areas are far less congested than Broward County.

Naples is pricey and (I hear) filled with grumpy, rich old people.

Definitely not looking for pricy, grumpy, or rich old people! Could anyone possibly suggest an area with a little more sophistication that's not a city - or - (here's the catch) culturally barren?

Is the OP really likely to find what they want for $225K in those areas?

It's very possible. The houses won't be sprawling estates, and there might be some work that needs to be done, but there's definitely some more country living options in PBC. Loxahatchee, Jupiter Farms, etc.

The nicer areas in Palm Beach County, an older home of 10 years - 3/2 - w/2 car garage ... you're gonna need at least $400k USD. Or you live in Pompano with Brasilians who don't care to speak the Amerikan language we call English.

Good Luck ....

The Martin County area might be desirable. Stuart, Palm City, Jensen Beach...all are easy driving distance to West Palm or Jupiter. All have relatively good housing markets, too.

Palm beach county all day, it comes down to a matter of preference, if you like being close to everything downside is traffic, and higher rents. But if you like it quieter and less congested your better off north of broward county..
