We may have an option to move to either Orlando (we'd live on the outskirts) or Coconut Creek. Which is better in your opinion and why? Thanks!

That is like asking "should I move to Boston, MA or Cheyenne, Wyoming?" Lol I'm only kidding.

Which area is "better" is highly subjective and would differ depending on who you ask. People from Orlando would unanimously say Orlando is far superior to anywhere in South FL. People from Coconut Creek and South FL would say the opposite. The two areas are difficult to compare since you didn't specify which suburb of Orlando you're considering. You said the "outskirt" of Orlando, not Orlando proper.

Coconut Creek is a smaller suburb located about 20 minutes NW of Fort Lauderdale. It is generally very nice and has a lot of shopping and conveniences nearby. You're right off of several expressways making it easy to commute around the area. I have no idea where your job would be or why you specifically considered Coconut Creek over other nearby areas. Care to give us some more info?

Orlando's metro area is very large and spread out. From everything I've heard, the traffic there is pretty bad if you live on an outskirt and have to commute into the city. The South FL area also has some bad traffic, but it would depend how far you commute. If you're just driving around Coconut Creek, the traffic is minimal.

Generally speaking, Orlando attracts more of a Midwest/Southern crowd while Coconut Creek/South FL attracts more of a Northeastern U.S. crowd. South FL also has a large influx of Latins moving northward from Miami. South FL is considerably faster paced than greater Orlando. There are more "things to do" in South FL. The cost of living is probably higher in Coconut Creek than greater Orlando. Those are just some of the differences. Also, Coconut Creek is minutes away from the beach, while Orlando is a good 1-2 hours away depending on which part.

Great info! Thanks!

My husband may be able to transfer to Coconut Creek for work so that's why I asked Coconut Creek specifically. But I'm not sure which part of Coconut Creek he'd be working. I love that it's closer to the beach. Don't love the fact that cost of living is probably higher than Orlando.

Looks like FL isn't an option right now after all.
