Is it standard practice to have to provide my checking account number to do a background check for a rental? Likewise, they want me to provide my Driver's License Number.

The cost of the background check is $100 and they want not only my social security number but also my checking account number and driver's license number. Is this normal?

Can you please advise?

What can a landlord or rental company do with your checking account number?
Every time you write a check to whoever, you are providing the payee your checking account number plus your bank's routing number.

and Yes, your SSN will be needed to pull your credit report.

I don't know why they want your checking account number, they wouldn't be able to get balance info I would guess, maybe they can tell if you have bounced any checks. To get the checking account number all they would have to do it ask you to pay the $100 via your checking account. If it's a legit place I wouldn't worry. But keep an eye on your account anyway, you can check your balances online anytime you want.
