I did a TON of research online as any internet savvy person would do before moving down here. I posted questions on here and other sites and settled on actually making the move!

I move through my company, keeping my job and my pay. I had the freedom to choose to live anywhere between coral springs to palmetto bay. I settled on Sunrise, FL based on price, crime stats, and commute to one of our offices.

and I LOVE IT. I'm so happy with my decision. I love Broward county, they have great beaches, parks, and events almost every weekend for the kiddies. I love the weather, theres 3 malls within 10-15 mins, every store I could need, and I've met some cool people so far. I also love my son's school, I've had no issues with them.

Part of it is just the fact that I am no longer in Boston, I hate being cold (I've ALWAYS hated it) , and Boston is pricey.

Anyways, I don't really have a question or anything, I just wanted to share for those that are considering a move, this is a success story so far for me!

In looking at your previous posts.. it looks like you literally just got here in the last few months?
Maybe post your thoughts/update after you've been here 2 years or so?

repost after 2 or 3 summers, a few hurricanes and more exposure to the twilight zone that is broward county. I lived there 5 years, after 2 or 3 years many if not most opinions drastically change to better reflect reality

As I told the previous poster, I'm allowed to post my first impression. If my feelings change, I am also allowed to post those feelings as well.

stop being so negative, maybe thats why you all had a hard time, I'm a very positive person and I'm meeting positive people that have been here much longer than I (and you) that still love it, so everyone is different.

Sorry you didn't like, I hope wherever you ended up is a better fit!

This is hilarious, a nice person comes on the forum to share her positive thoughts on her move (which, as fellow humans, we should support) and she receives several posts admonishing her for not being more negative. Congrats Quickques on your move, and your great post. Ignore the commenters. God Bless..

I came here in 2000, from NY, and still like it here.

Quickues, So glad you posted your thoughts on the move and so glad it's positive. I'm here 2.5 years from New Jersey. I settled on Parkland and after 2.5 years I am still happy, thrilled and still amazed every day that I got here and made this move! I have ZERO regrets and am sending my two kids to the public schools. The schools have been great. I DO NOT miss the cold and am thrilled to be here during the winter and not in cold, nasty, snowy weather. I hope you continue to be happy and DO post your thoughts as you are here longer. I have a feeling you will not change your opinion, even after two years, and will be as happy as I am 2.5 years later.
