How is the humidity in Ft. Lauderdale? Does it make life miserable? If so, for how many months of the year? The pictures of the beach and the city make Fort Lauderdale look great, but really bad humidity for a large portion of the year could make living difficult.

If you don't like humidity...don't move to South Florida...for humidity is part of Florida living...especially south Florida...many people in the summer months go from their air conditioned home..to their air conditioned car..to the air conditioned store..and then repeat the steps in reverse to get home..and never venture out of the air conditioning for any extended period of time..I have visited the Fort Lauderdale area at all times of the year and basically from May to October the humidity is something you will have to learn to live with..but it is still one of the best places to be..

Humidity is horrible for approximately seven months of the year , tolerable for two months and a non factor for three months of the year .

When your on the shore or out on the water and a cooling breeze is blowing you know why your here. In Ft. Lauderdale there have been many projects that failed because people don't want to be out in the heat day in and day out. When the ambient temperature at mid night is eighty five degrees. You're thankful you have AC. When the warm air envelopes you, its like a warm invisible cloud surrounding you. Because of the humidity you can't enjoy being outside unless your in your bathing suit. Your getting eaten alive if there isn't a strong breeze to keep the bugs at bay. The older people love it because many are easily clilled.

It could also mean something quite ordinary, you never know Your screen name is a good one too, hard, solid, personality description. Definitly not the Seinfeld Newman.
Thanks for the compliment

it boils down to personal preference. I hate humidity but you might find it tolerable or even enjoy it. If the thought of opening your bedroom window and being met with what I can only describe as peering into a 450 degree conviction oven to check the roast doesn't bother you then by all means, come on down!

it sucks! honestly. It has totally wrecked my skin. You can't explain it until you have been here. I have been here since February and I can't remember a day when it hasn't felt moist. I stand outside the school to wait for my kids for 10minutes and feel the wetness dripping down my shirt shortly after getting out my car. The beaches are nice likein March and April then it's just so darn hot and humid it's not pleasurable. If I would've really known this I would NOT have relocated here.

How bad is the humidity? Very bad. It gets worse into the evening, even though the temperatures drop after dusk. The humidity keeps it feeling 90 degrees at night in the summer months. The second you step outside at midnight, you start sweating.

Another thing about humidity people rarely mention is mold/mildew. You MUST run your A/C year-around even during the winter months or else you'll get mold and mildew growing in your home. If you own a house with a garage, anything you store out in the garage will develop mold and mildew.

Really? The one pro of humidity I've found is my skin is better than when I lived in colder whether further north. I used to hate the winters because my skin would dry up and I'd constantly be using chapstick. In S. FL, dry skin is an afterthought.

It is because my skin is naturally an oil slick so whenever some wet moisture comes around it looks like a greasy pizza crust~
