My Wife and I just sold our house here in PSL and she resigned from her job as case manager at our local hospital to be stay at home mom during virtual schooling for our kids. I work from home making $50k/yr. We used to live in Broward back in 2012 but we are thinking about moving back because my Wife has job connections and we have friends and family in SFL (we are by ourselves here). I know its more expensive down south, home prices are going up but I am just wondering if its worth it. I hear a lot of people from down south are moving up here. We do want to buy house again and we are having a hard time deciding to buy here in PSL or make the move to Broward. Our top locations are Coconut Creek, Coral Springs, Plantation and Sunrise.

I'd never move back to Broward's sprawl, the traffic/congestion are insane. I think we are at the top of a pricing bubble again, I wouldn't buy anything right now.

I like East Ft Lauderdale but a teardown is 2mm, the sewer pipes are breaking weekly, insurance is insane all issues that are not going away ever and the flooding is a problem. 5 years ago I would have considered E Ft Laud but now I would not.

Your problem is the schools are garbage in Broward unless you live in expensive areas. Maybe a small old fixer upper in Cooper City for $300k if you are lucky.

If you want to be closer to job prospects and friends in Broward yet have more options for decent schools, Palm Beach County like parts of Wellington and Royal Palm may be a good option.

Sounds risky. If she decides she enjoys being a SAHM more than working (which may have been her plan all along and now had the opportunity to use "virtual schooling" as her excuse to quit), then your $50k/year job may not cut it if the sale of your PSL house didn't net a whole lot of profit after any remaining balances were paid off.

If that's the case, then if (and possibly when) she decides that the "bread" you win just isn't cutting it any more and she seeks more "bread" from someone else, you'd still be on the hook for that new house you'd be kicked out of PLUS child support PLUS possible alimony.

This is 2020...many things are more possible right at this moment than many men are traditionally willing to even consider for acceptance.

Keep your eyes and ears open and consider ALL possible outcomes before signing on any more dotted lines.
