I am a mother of 2 kids (9yrs & 5yrs). On June 2010 will be moving to Broward from the Caribbean. My husband will work in Sunrise.
At this time we are considering Weston and Coral Springs.

We are planning to rent a 3bdr house in a gated community (we prefer no townhouses) for no more than $2,000/monthly.
And it's very important for us not to be very far from Sunrise. My husband will work around the Sawgrass Mall.
How long does it take from CS to Sunrise on Weekdays? What about from Weston?

Any input is greatly appreciated it!

Thanks

Default Not 100% sure but...

Moving, I don't live there yet, but have done a ton of research on this very thing. I believe without a doubt the commute from Weston would be better to sunrise. I believe that Weston is about 2 towns over so it shouldn't take long at all - I think it might be a bit of a treck from Coral Springs, however, I don't think it is far enough to make you reconsider living there. I also believe you will have more luck with that price range in Coral Springs.

Weston to Sunrise by Sawgrass is about 5 to 15 minutes depending on how deep in, and Coral Springs 15-30 depending on how far east or north.

Also, for developments, look into Savanna in Weston. If you want a REALLY close commute, there is a gated section of the Shenandoah community in Davie that is worth checking out, and it is literally down the block from the Sawgrass area. The school district is good.

Oh man, Weston is so close to Sawgrass Mall, especially if you are in the north area of Weston. It's only 10 minutes drives.

Good to know!!
What about my budget? Is it possible to rent a non townhome for $2,000/montlhly in Weston? We need 3 bedrooms.
I like gated communities but with some privacy.

Thanks again to all of you!

Check realtor.com and see what is available. Also, you can check zillow.com - while you are not buying a home, the site has useful information.

There are many areas in Weston that would fit your requirements. I live in the Bonaventure area of Weston.

I did a preliminary search based on 1800-2000 and here is what I found for 33326:
33326 Real Estate Listings and 33326 Rentals for Rent - REALTOR.com®

Have fun!
